Waukesha Fire Headquarters Station No. 1
Waukesha, WI
The new Waukesha, Wisconsin Station No. 1 was designed to replace an outdated, under-sized existing Station. The new headquarters facility utilized the same site as the old station, and therefore, relocation of the occupying fire company during construction was necessary.
Before construction could begin, extensive site work was required along with demolition of the existing building. In addition, due to the regional climate, the project was phased to maximize construction efforts during the warmer months of the year.
Serving as a consultant to local design firm Plunkett Raysich Architects, Stewart-Cooper-Newell Architects positioned the station’s orientation to provide views across a city green way and the Fox River. The design provides offices and ample storage space to house the Department’s headquarters. Rounding out the design’s features are five drive-through bays, a turn-out gear room, a decontamination room, a tool shop and a large exercise room.
