Square Footage

13,392 SF (Addition) 17,589 SF (Renovation)

Project Description

The City of Lincolnton hired Stewart-Cooper-Newell to assist in the development of a plan to renovate and expand both the existing City Hall and Fire Department, and to develop ideas to tie the two facilities
together. The facilities were located adjacent to one of North Carolina’s most historic courthouses and thus it was imperative that the renovated building would complement that aspect of the downtown area.

The final design incorporates a new masonry exterior on the existing facilities with an addition that connects the two buildings, creating a new, single entrance for the public.

The City Hall received a much needed drive through window for utility payments and a new, more spacious council chamber in the new addition. The Fire Department received a new apparatus bay, renovated living quarters, new offices and ample training classrooms.
