24,000 SF

Project Description

As part of a larger bond referendum, the citizens of Gastonia funded the design and construction of a new headquarters station that would serve both the administrative and fire service functions of the department.

The 24,000 SF station has four drive-through apparatus bays, a maintenance bay, individual sleep rooms, physical fitness areas, a large kitchen and a dayroom. The administrative suite has offices and conference rooms for the Chief, Assistant Chiefs, and other administrative personnel, along with a large training room for continuing education and use by the citizens.  One unique feature of this project involved incorporating a small museum into the station that highlights the history of the Fire Service in Gastonia.
