Project Description

This project involved an extensive programming exercise due to severe site constraints, as well as a feasibility / needs assessment study prior to working out the design shown here. The project’s phasing called for the demolition of the existing, inadequate station on the site, with a temporary facility immediately taking its place while the permanent station was constructed.

The two-story headquarters has three double-loaded, drive through apparatus bays and one single-loaded bay. Interior spaces and elements on the first floor include an elevator at the main lobby, staff, administrative and chief’s offices, a radio report room and Decon and tool rooms located directly adjacent to the vehicle bays. On the second floor, the design includes individual bunk rooms for six crew members, gender-separated restrooms, a large exercise room, a dayroom with adjoining kitchen, a conference room, and a training room capable of seating over 70 occupants.
