Project Description

This three-bay public safety station reflects the small town character that Apex, North Carolina portrays. The traditional look of the materials and the scale at which they were used united the surrounding area’s architectural language, responding to the personality of Apex.

The Public Safety Station includes a Police Department office, EMS office, server room and Fire office, accompanied by a radio-report room off of the entry lobby. A spacious day room is located off of the kitchen with space for dining. All of the building’s spaces have direct, quick access to the apparatus bays. Located off of the bays are a decontamination room, a tool shop and storage spaces. An efficient diesel generator can support the entire building in the event of a power outage.

This station was designed, bid and built as part of a larger public safety project for the town that also included Stewart-Cooper-Newell’s design services for the new Police Department Headquarters.
