Square Footage

13.2 acre site w/ multiple Burn Props

Project Description

The Town of Hilton Head Island commissioned Stewart-Cooper-Newell Architects to plan and design their new Maintenance and Fire Training Center. The administrative, central office for the campus was designed to correlate aesthetically with Hilton Head Island Fire Stations No. 4 & 7, both of which were previously designed by Stewart-Cooper-Newell.

The facility was also designed to serve as an interim Town Hall in case of an emergency. The facilities management warehouse is used to house equipment and supplies. This structure also contains offices and a loading dock.  For use in fire training, the on-campus, mult-story burn building is a pre-engineered metal structure capable of propane burning and other activities. Other training features on the site include a Vehicle burn prop, a propane-fueled Drum burn prop and a Drafting Pit for pump testing. The fire training warehouse is used to house offices, equipment and additional training supplies. Both the facilities management warehouse and the fire training warehouse can also be used for vehicle maintenance.
